Take 5
with Morven Watson
It’s back! After a short hiatus, we return to our Q&A series, starting off with the lovely Cats & Rocking Chairs blogger Miss Morven Watson.
Can you describe yourself in five words?Forgetful, Impatient, Excessive, Clumsy, Irreverent.
What’s in your fridge? No ‘real’ food. About 5 Easter eggs and other desert orientated things. I usually have a fridge full of chocolate and maybe the odd tomato.
What’s been your biggest fashion disaster to date? The fashion disasters are reoccurring…on an almost weekly basis. I don’t have to look far to see my last one, as it’s usually documented on my blog the week before. I’d like to refer to my recent ‘cowboy’ arrangement - camel jeans, open toe boots and a big hat. It sounds like it would work…but it just didn’t.
Who would be your dream dinner date?Dim Sum with Lucian Freud!
Do you have a party trick?I consider myself a cat whisperer. If the host has a cat…it WILL be in my arms in about 10 minutes.

Read on to find out what made it onto her Christmas Wish List…

1. Vaity Lace Dress

“Lace dresses are my failsafe option when it comes to party wear. Nothing makes me feel prettier!”

2. Morning Song Silk Top

“This top would look great with the Max Pintuck Trousers, chunky platforms and a clutch.”

3. Silver Samantha Sequins Dress

“The ultimate party dress. I think every girl needs a great sequin dress in their closet. I treated myself to a gold one for my 30th birthday and even though I don’t wear it very often, just looking at it makes me happy.”

4. Juines Platform Heels

“The texture on these shoes is really great, suede and patent make for an interesting shoe. Chunky heels are great to dance the night away too!”

5. Max Pintuck Trousers

“These trousers in red would be the perfect day to night outfit for the Christmas party season.”

6. Swallow Swoop Tea Dress

“This dress reminds me of the Miu Miu AW11 collection. I love its subtle 40s reference. It would look great paired with the Joby Boots.”

7. Feisty Felt Coat

“While doing the Christmas party rounds, you will need a super stylish cover up and this minimalist coat provides a great contrast with party outfits.”

8. Joby Ankle Boots

“My fave new boots!”

Want to know what trends Emily’s currently obsessing over?

Take 5

This week Électrique caught up with Rachel Jones, author of the inspiring lifestyle and design blog Black*Eiffel.

Rachel L Jones

Can you describe yourself in five words?

Optimistic, perceptive, keen, genuine, curious.

What’s your fashion vice?

Black! I have way too much of it in my closet, yet I often find myself seeking more!

Do you have a karaoke song of choice?

I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett.

What are your everyday essentials?

Moisturizer, mascara, a green drink, lots of h20 and listening to great music!

When did you last tell a lie?

Probably in airport security when I may or may not have had nail clippers in my bag…

Take 5

The adorable Canned Fashion blogger, illustrator and street style star Natalie Hughes made us laugh when she answered our questions recently.

Natalie Hughes

Can you describe yourself in five words?
Never knowingly underdressed, slightly neurotic.

What’s been your most memorable fashion disaster?
Once, when I was about 11, I thought it was non-school uniform day. I don’t know what’s worse - that I showed up wearing lime and fluoro orange leggings with a coordinating green sweater, or that it turned out not to be a non-school uniform day. We also had a school trip that afternoon.

What word/words do you overuse?
‘Did you see The Only Way is Essex last night?’
‘My feet hurt.’
‘I’ve wanted it for ages though.’ (pertaining to the impending purchase of something impractical)

Who’s your fashion alter ego?
Cher Horowitz. What can I say? I’m partial to a skirt suit.

Can you tell us a joke?
I’m rubbish at jokes but my brother’s tweets make me L.O.L. (and I’m not just saying that!) Some recent gems, courtesy of @ChristopherHug:

Chilli con carne for breakfast is not sitting well.

That #AwkwardMoment when someone’s wearing the same glasses as you but theirs don’t have lenses.

Finally I can sing ‘Only You’ just like Alison Moyet, possibly the only good thing about having a sore throat.

Take 5

This week, California girl Bee from Atlantic-Pacific answers our questions.

Bee Take 5

Can you describe yourself in five words?

Quirky, clumsy, sarcastic, fiery, passionate.

What’s in your fridge?

Expired food…and lots of it.

What’s your fashion vice?

Blazers…just taking over my closet.

What song is your go-to for karaoke?

Third Eye Blind ‘Semi-Charmed Life.’

Do you have a party trick?

I have really long fingers and can contort them in a really odd way.  It is more so grotesque than it is impressive, so I only use it in desperate situations!
